9.24.7 "His Plan"

"His Plan"

Isaiah 43:14-45:10
Ephesians 3:1-21
Psalm 68:1-18
Proverbs 24:1-2

"You gonna work out today?" Those were the first words I heard this morning. That's the LAST thing I wanna do! I had someone get after me yesterday because I didn't do a "follow-up" on how the 5k run/walk went. Well, it all depends on how you look at it. It was great to get together w/ a total of 140 other people from the church and enjoy a beautiful day. As for the run part... well, the winner finished the 5k in around 18 minutes. It only took me 2.5k to do 18 minutes. so, if I spin it enough, it might sound good! I made sure I was running every time we broke into a clearing & I knew people were watching. :) So, "what's the point?" exactly.

"What's the point?" Is a question I used to hear often when I was teaching Junior High. The kids couldn't stand learning something if it seemed like it could be a waste of time. I think there are many times when we as believers lose sight of what the point is. Every day our goal needs to be to mature in Christ. This is God's plan. This is why he's at work in our lives.

"When I think of the wisdom and scope of his plan I fall down on my knees and pray to the Father of all the great family of God - some of them already in heaven and some down here on earth - that out of his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you the mighty inner strengthening of his Holy Spirit." Eph 3:14-16.

The power of the Spirit needs to be alive and at work in us. We can't function properly without it. It's our responsibility to seek God and make room for him to work.

"And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts, living within you as you trust in him." 3:17

How at home is Christ in your heart? In my life I know he feels less "at home" when I begin to work things out on my own. When I rely on my own strength instead of his, he doesn't feel welcome. He's one "guest" that wants to come over & be put to work!

"May your roots go down deep into the soil of God's marvelous love;" 3:17

There's really no way to grow roots without getting grounded in the word & connected to the Body through fellowship and study. We have to make this a priority.

"and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God's children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high his love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves, though it is so great that you will never see the end of it or fully know or understand it. And so at last you will be filled up with God himself." Eph 3:18-19

As God's kids we NEED to understand his love. We NEED to experience it. The road that leads to greater understanding of this can be eventful, but is for the purpose of building up trust, and experiencing the guiding of his hand through dark times.

This is what we're after. This is the point. As much as we want it, God wants it more. Let's get out of the way and let him do his thing!

"Now glory be to God who by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of - infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes." Eph 3:20

Through the Power of the Spirit,
Live the DREAM!
