7.19.8 "when THAT happens..."

"when THAT happens..."

I Chronicles 28:1-29:30
Romans 5:3-21
Psalm 15:1-5
Proverbs 19:18-19

Romans 5:5 says, "Then, when that happens, we are able to hold our heads high no matter what happens and know that all is well, for we know how dearly God loves us, and we feel this warm love everywhere within us because God has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love."

Doesn't that sound awesome? That is our goal. That is maturity in Christ. Isn't it great knowing the love of Christ to the extent that nothing can hold us back, knock us down, or cause us to doubt that things will turn out? I want to be there, don't you?

Wait a minute... Romans 5:5 says "When that happens...." What's the that?

"We can rejoice, too when we run into problems and trials for we know that they are good for us -- they help us learn to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our hope and faith are strong and steady." Romans 5:3-4

Oh... that! Don't you hate running into problems and trials? They all seem to get in the way of where we're going. But the truth is, if we don't run in to them, what happens? We can't get to where God wants us to be.

Constantly remind yourself of your purpose. Remind yourself that at ALL times, God is completing his work in you. When you see that big picture, it brings perspective into what you are going through.

In other DEVOs I've mentioned the "Preciousness of Frustration". This is why trials and problems are precious: Because without them, you can't become mature.

Begin to rejoice in the challenges that lie before you. That's how you develop your Dynamic Lifestyle of Worship. See what happens in you and around you. The peace that you develop from getting your private world in order begins to spread to others, and the world around you changes.

"When THAT happens..."
